few questions regarding Castrol, carlube and halfords

    I've seen some Castrol edge fully synthetic 5 40 on asda direct for 35 quid. Just wondered if its any good, quality and price ? ... Also I've heard that carlube is good however i hear mixed reviews about halfords fully synthetic oil.
    Anyone have any input on this. I know you get What you pay for but i just want a good deal on a good tub of oil so i Can service my car. I have a vtr Mark two. 65k on the clock y reg. Full stainless system, Decat manifold and induction.

    im sure asda are doing castrol for a tenner by me 4.5 liters.

    for a Tenner... For fully synth, a big bottle ? On the site it says 35 quid. i Definately want a good oil. I heard carlube were doing a good deal not long back. I'll need four litres or What not of the best stuff. If some one Can tell me whether halfords is any good ill have a look at their prices. But regarding asda if its a Tenna For edge Thats a steal.... You sure about this ?

    I'm gonna check that out thanks mate. Castrol fully synthetic has got to be worth it.

    prior to buying this i always used unipart oil cant go wrong i dont think

    just pop down, thats all i did and they had a big display that had been torn apart but i managed to get one

    IIRC ASDA are only doing the Castrol GTX for £10. The Magnatec is about £26 and the Edge even more than that.

    unless you are running a high performance engine i dont think you can go wrong with halfords oil. its made by Comma anyway, its just the halfords badge that people dislike, its still good quality oil. if you have a trade card it costs bugger all anyway

    Thanks mate.... Well I presumed it was ok but i have heard some say its poor.

    Im aware after reading through the oil thread that 5w 40 is the viscosity I should be looking at (fully synthetic) But I just also wondered if you guys knew whether theres any good deals to be had at the minute.

    Someone said carlube was going in wilkinsons for like 11 quid for a 4litre tub of fully synthetic which is a steal.

    Any other deals like that i'd love to know about. But ill check if halfords got any deals on the go.

    Realistically is there a difference betweeen halfords / carlube and that castrol EDGE stuff ? ( apart from castrol being the known brand )
