Coil pack nuts on too tight

  1. #1
Cant for the life of me get the bloody bolts out of the coil pack -its the block one.Seems like if I turn too hard the heads might snap off

Anyone else encounter this that can give me an idea on how I get 'em off!

    Cheers

if your stuggling to get a bolt out in general, soak them in wd40 for 5 miuntes, give them a tap with a hammer to shock the threads, and break any rust that may be holding them and increase the lenght of the tool you aredoing to increase the leaverage

Cheers guys looks like a soak in WD40 is the way to go.Reckon its the original one so might have rusted on

Also, rather than start a new thread - I'm sure I read somewhere you need to source the right coilpack dependant on the colour of the plug on top-can anyone verify?
I always thought it was just a case of either single block or rail type (mines a block with grey plug) wont any block fit on?

Amazingly helpful that, and to think you were doing a radiator change the other week?!

To the OP - if you snap the heads off use a bolt extractor kit. You drill the broken bolt then screw a conical shape reverse threaded tool into it and it just spins out. Great bit of kit for about £10 from ebay

Get a slightly bigger torx bit then gently tap it into the torx hole,it also helps if you use a ratchet with a short extension. Then put the torx bit into the socket on the end.

Anyone confirm that a block is a block etc or do I need to be wary of the colour of the plug to get the 'right' block...?

    Pardon?

Bash a bigger torx bit into the nut to get it out

Then replace the bolts with new ones..

When I asked mandyslover70 the other day about the block type coil packs he said basically they`re all the same & had fitted a 1.1 coil pack to a 1.6.(both block type regardless of plug colour)

I used a chisel to put a groove in the top of a rounsed one, then tapped it round with a hammer
