DeGrilling and Meshing

    Mark 2 Saxo Front grill.

Removed the top ones backing, does the remaining part just get sealed on with sealant???

Bottom grill, can i get the plastic completely removed and fully meshed, or can i only the mesh the back???

Also rough costs, ill ask at bodyshop tommorrow anyway, but a rough estimate would be good

few pound for the mesh for the front grill if you DIY - might as well if you have the skills
  3. #3
yeh im doing it all myself.

BUT the bottom bumper bit, it has plastic in it, can i get it all cut, sanded, sprayed and just put a big bit mesh in?

bonnet mesh is easy take of car cut off the plastic welds holding the slats in place get mesh and cut to size of grill leaving a gap for bonnet catch atach onto other part of grill using silcone

bottom grill just cut out slats then bond mesh onto bumper its hard to get perfect cuts and might need filling holes and painting a little

^^^^ what he said, true for the grill

and the bottom section ud need a dremel to cut the slats out as the grill on the bumper is all moulded as 1 part, would be tricky to do it DIY style me thinks

the bottoms not hard to do its just some of the paint comes off and leaves to holes either side
  7. #7
therfore, the bumper needs to be resprayed and fibreglassed, not something you can do DIY style really.
  8. #8
well you could just fill the hole and paint that not really need to paint full bumper if your confident with paint

hmm bottom is too hard methinks.

Think ill just mesh up the rear of it.

As for top bit, iv done it already, but im not sure how to fit it back onto car. Do i silicone it to the actual car???

Like do i silicone plastic to metal?? as theres nothing left to hold it.

Also some metal at the rear shows through, can i hacksaw it down yeh?

    cheers for all help (Y)

no silicone to the other part of grill then fix back onto car using the original screws

    Right lower maybe do-able then.

As for top, iv split the two, and chucked the other bit away, so only have the surround, lol.

Can i just silicone it straight to car yeh?

when meshing the grille how did you spray the black just with cans from halfords?
