just wondering if anyone can help me with this... I took my VTR to be serviced and have the timing belt done as this is long overdue as the cars on 62k. well anyway after having it back i took it for a little spin and theres a noise comming from where the timing belt is and its quite loud it sounds like the belts rubbing and the mechanic said its just the belt bedding in but im really not sure :/ he said if it carrys on he can untension it a tiny bit but just wondering if anyone can tell me if this is why its making this noise or has he fucked up :/

#2lol my cars done 83000 miles, (although on my old mot it said its done 89000 so some cunts lying) anyway, i didnt think it was that crucial .

#3It wasn't overdue, 75k is the interval iirc.
Belt could be to tight, make a video of the noise and post on here -
#4The belt is too tight. It's worse than having a slack belt...

#7thanks everyone, i spoke to the emchanic and he says it naturally did it too tight as he didnt want it too loose and to go out of sync but il get him to loosen it asap and also does anyone know where i can get harder rubbers from as in the mornings my exhaust squeeks when i change gear and put my foot down and take it off but the noise does go slightly quieter when the cars warm. if the noise from the belt carrys on il post up a video.
any help it greatly apprechiated.

#8the squeak from your exhaust sounds like the Flang. The join between c section and Downpipe. Take it Apart wire wool any rust off, copper grease at and re join. If your gasket is crap put a new one in. Stopped mine squeaking for good. It was so annoying at one point. Does it sound like creaking floor board or like metal on metal noise creak ?

#9yea metal on metal but i have the saxsport stainless exhaust (centre and backbox) dunno if that makes a difference i got told just put new rubbers on and putty but i want it all sorted and to know for sure and not just go off someones opinion

#10Note to self - never use that mechanic again he is clearly shit.

#11yes i think so but i seem to have found another based near me from people saying he is the best in the area for lowering the rear beam so might stick to him and being shit at mechanics myself im prone to getting ripped off -_-
