VTR Brakes and rims

Heya all,iv got an 03 vtr.which is stock!i desperatly need new brake pads, going 2 fit some mintex pads I recon.seeing as so many rate them on here, anyone got any ideas as 2 any other compounds that will work well for fast road driving, but are decent from cold( my missus uses it for work most mornings so dont want anything 2 unresponsive from cold) plus im thinking of changing the rims and tyres as the stock wheels look like casters!what inch would fit without rubbing?what sort of spacers should I use?

    Thanks
    Ry

15 inch are generally what people fit, I have 16's on my gti, for a road car too much hassle I cant get full lock and is destroying my gti arches I am down 60mm though, obviously u only use spacers to to get the correct offset so that al depends on the wheel you get....

Which mintex pads u going for?

Ds2500s are decent if you dont want to change the standard 247mm calipers but most people recommend putting on 266mm brakes or the 283s

Well there are 2 main types of mintex pad, you can get the cheap standard replacement ones and the more expensive m1144 pads which are for fast road/light track use pads all depends how much you wanna spend :-)

Recon ill go 4 the more expensive ones, the one thing u never want to scrimp on are the brakes!

The "cheap" ones arent too bad for a road car in all honesty

The stock replacement Mintex pads will be more than adequate for stock VTR.

I got the box kit that included front discs and pads for girlfriends VTR and it was only £40. Improved the braking no end!

Don't get me wrong there's nothing wrong with the cheap ones I have used them, but yer the m1144 are more powerful

Thats the thing, I want it too be a good drive when Im using it, but still managable for the GF, so nothing too extreme.

Thanks for all the advice, looks like the normal mintexpads will do me fine. Now to save for all the other stuff I want...
