Flashing/Solid management light?

   Just wondering what is the difference? - what causes it to flash and not be solid/ vice versa

   It means there is something wrong... Get a code reader on it.

   Flashing means, stop the engine at once.
   
   Constant means, drive it carefully until you can get it checked out.

   I may be wrong here but when it flashes its telling you of a fault,when it stays solidly lit the engine management system goes into limp home mode.In either case the ecu needs to be scanned on a fault code reader.The eml light can also come on if theres a wiring fault ie a bad earth on 1 of the instrument cluster wires as I was told by a garage this week.
