Why would an engine sound more noisy....

After an oil change and new filter?

Used Shell Helix 10w40 part synthetic and in all honesty it sounds like a bag of shit compared to the old oil?!? Would using B100 make the engine more noisy?

    Any thoughts chaps?

You put the sump plug back in ? :-D

Maybe your car had thicker oil init before..

it might be all the sludge keeping it quiet mate. Like, old oil a build up and What not in the engine. Might be louder but not necessarily operating worse.

I agree with the above post, I had a pug 406 diesel that was the same, used to be well noisy after an oil change, but would get quieter after a couple of hundred miles and be back to normal.

my saxo was the same. After an oil change it sounds slightly tappety. After a few months and it should be fine mate. Its probably becuase the old oil was contaminated and thicker

I been told if its louded after a oil chance it could be the big ends are fucked.....as the new oil is thiner, so as the oil gets older and thicker it stops the noise....thats why the noise goes after a while

Did you use an engine flush before draining out the old oil?

Was warned not to use an engine flush, something to do with moving sludge and creating oil leaks?? I just dropped the oil left it for an hour to drain then wacked fresh in. On a side note once warm it does quieten down..?

    Cheers all..

i just yesterday had Wilsy flush my engine with some wynns engine flush. Fast idle'd the car for ten minutes or so. Drained old crap then replaced it with Fuchs titan race. Smoothness in engine was noticable straight away. Give it a few days to run round the system and it Will be purring like a kitten.
