50mm or 60mm?

  1. #1
Mk2 vtr with vts wheels..thinking 50mm or 60mm lowering springs?
And would there be any issues? Heard stuff about bending the PAS pipe?

    Thanks
  2. #2
you wont have any issues that i can think of, as for PAS pipe, take it off the mk1 and fit it to yours.
  3. #3
i just got told the problem with PAS pipe was only on the mk1 ?
  4. #4
Your steering rack wont like it.
  5. #5
    in what way
  6. #6
Puts them under alot of strain... they dont sit properly if too low, the steering arms or whatever bow down.
  7. #7
right .. 50mm would be ok though ? lol
  8. #8
No idea mate lol... just know if you go too low its v bad.
  9. #9
lol i got told 50mm would be fine on the mk2, 60mm+ is when you can get problems,
and the mk2 has differnt pas pipe then the mk1 so mk1's just bend the pipe,

I'm running 50mm with no problems at all and my sister is down60mm with no problems either
  11. #11
    what springs? Eibach?

and did u upgrade dampers? or leave standard mate?
  12. #12
Always upgrade dampers if going lower than 40mm
  13. #13
Ive always thought 60mm is way to low!
  14. #14
How much abouts would it be for dampers + 50mm springs?
  15. #15
my car has uprated shocks always uprate them when your goin lowerer or you will get rattly struts, my sisters however is lowered by 60mm without uprated dampers and hers only makes rattly noise on cobbled roads.

the suspension kit im using ive nevr had any problems at all here is the link to where i bought it its apex 50mm

id uprate the shocks personally past 40mm

60mm is fine, i had mine at 60mm then at 75mm on coilovers and didnt have any wear problems

its mk2's btw which have longer pas pipes compared with mk1's. just bend your mk2 pipe with a metal pole

Uhh.. Don't know what to do, I want the car atleast 50mm,but don't wanna spend to much money tbh..

So simply .. If I got apex/eibach 50mm springs with standard shocks.. Will it be ok? And if the shocks fuxked up I could just upgrade them then..?

Well the shock will only last like a year if that and will be a shit ride!

Mate if your going to go 50/60mm you might as well do it properly and get the shocks

mines 70mm lower and has been for the last year and the only problem i had was the high pressure power steering pipe had to be bent up slightly. and it doesnt put any strain on the rack just the ball joint at the end which can take it as thats what ball joints are for to take up a large degree of movement.

I got 60mm on standard dampers, absoultely fine no problems

Mk1 or mk2? As I got told the mk2 had an improved pas pipe wich was higher up and out of the way.

i dont think thats true mate, its not like citroen took into consideration everyone would lower them lol

the pipe on my mk1 is really short and out the way, i went down to 75mm on the front with coilovers and it never scraped it.
now im down 90mm on the front however and it did touch it so i had to move it out the way.

mk2 pipes are longer and more in the way apparently so need bending out the way alot sooner than mk1's

Right ok, I think it was willsy that told me about the pipe though, never mind if not not hard to bend it I guess

your getting confused its the mk2's that have the annoying PAS pipes

this is why everyone should buy mk1's not gay mk2's

Mk1's look old and tatty and is hard to find a decent one

I just don't like the front end tbh.. Bonnet/grill lights looks weird
Just like I don't like the hold golfs for the same reason.

Yours is one of the nicest I've seen though.. (push ya ego back up)
