Strange noise when start ?

   When i start the car up it makes a noise as if I've turned the key when it's already running if you know what I mean?? It only makes the noise for a second or 2.
   Mk2 vtr if that helps
   
   Its not a whining noise so wouldn't say it's the belt slipping ..
   Don't know if it's something it's meant to do and could just be some thin like pas pump .. ? :s
   
   Thanks in advance to anyone who can tell me what the annoying grinding noise is!

   probably your fuel pump, if its grinding i'd be worried!

   its not a grinding sound as such :s hard to explain other here lol..
   
   just imagine what your car sounds like when it's running.. then if u turn ur key again.. but not as loud :s

   So does the car still start first time? Sounds like the starter motor is on its way out. Mine used to 'screech' several times until it would finally crank over and start. You can pick one up on here second hand quite cheap.

   It starts 1st time, even the last few days when it's been frozen over started 1st time
   Was slightly sluggish but still fired up
   
   It doesn't skreech like your saying cause my bike use
   To that. Was as if it's just spinning but not catching
   
   It makes the noise just after it's started

   Then I am almost certain its related to your starter motor. Sounds like the teeth are still engaged for a few seconds after its start almost like it sticking slightly. If that makes sense

    Take it off and give it a good clean and grease. Sounds like the bendix is sticking and not throwing off when engine catches.

    Whoops, completely missed the part where you said car was started! Definately the starter sticking, twat it with a hammer see if it frees up a bit

    Right I'll try gving it a clean see if that does on thing If not it's getting the hammer if that does not work I'll buy another mandy
