Important! : Clutch

The clutch was really high and i new it wouldnt last long, after a long drive and a very hot engine i was struggling to get it into any gear and struggled back over 80 miles. it sounds like the release bearing has shot to pieces and obviously need a new clutch.
the main question is do you think i will need a new gearbox or would that have survived the journey ?????

Depends how rough you were with the gearbox, if the reease bearing has broken up, you might find some damage to the fork the bearing sits on. When you take it apart just have a good look in there for damage, check the flywheel and ring gear too. Should all be okay though I would have thought.

box internally should be fine if you werent too rough with it. had a release bearing go pretty badly in the middle of leeds once, drove it 20 miles home with the aid of an aa man with no clutch, gearchanges were very hard lol.
