catalytic converter and middle silencer

the join between my cat and middle box is fucked, it comes apart when reving, iv pulled it really hard , to see if it would come apart and fall off but it wont, which is good, put some exhaust sealant on it, but it still comes apart when i rev, it also hangs down pretty low, should there be a mount or heat shield that holds the cat up? as this would help?

checked again and the exhaust hangs down quite low, from the cat to the center pipe, i thought it should be right up into the heat shield, but if i push it up it will fall down lower again, could i use like a cable tie? and why is it hanging down so low?

btw even when i dont rev it, the cat and middle section jump up and down?

    this

mine done this when i fitted my exhaust on my vts but was a decat pipe not the cat but the same joint as yours, there's a hanger just after the centre box which i used cable ties and also the rubber hanger and i got a new exhaust clamp from eurocarparts for the joint and pushed the exhaust were it should be then tighten the clamp really hard and its sorted it out, as i say it was the exact same problem as you just a decat pipe not the cat. sorry if this aint much help.

nah mate its good help, so did u just cable tie the centre pipe beyond the middle box, or the middle box itself, and where should the rubber hanger be? its dark now but ill have a good butchers tomorrow to see if i can see where it is

there should be a hook on the exhaust just after the middle box i cable tied that to the hook on the bottom of the car and there should be a rubber hanger that also hooks onto the hook on the exhaust if you get me? i done that first then i got the clamp on the joint that keeps opening and i pushed the joint up towards the bottom of the car as far as it would go then tightend the clamp and its been perfect (2 weeks since i done it)

you could cable tie the joint up to stop it falling but don't think there will be any thing near it to cable tie it to

cheers mate, although its not the actual joint, the joint has came away from the actual silencer if you get me? but its like a pipe within that pipe so it wont fall off, hard to explain lol

does the pipe within the pipe slot into the other pipe then the ends meet then this clamp (below) goes over the ends that meet? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SAXO-1-0-1...f#ht_770wt_952

this has came free from the cat, but it goes into something else.
so its middle cat, clamp, then middle box, but this has came free

    from the cat?
  12. #12
so has it snapped if not it should just slot into the cat pipe then clamp together with the clamp i posted be4 either that or im completely lost lol
  13. #13
i think its snapped off tbh, i put sealant on it, but dont know how it could have came free if it is the clamp, as the cat is brand new, got it 3rd of jan?
  14. #14
if its snapped you will have to get it welded or a new centre section not sure what year yours is but here is one pritty cheap and you can see in the pic the bit that slots in the cat pipe and the clamp goes over http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/EXPG3002-C...ht_2722wt_1185

according to the pic this one has the hook after the silencer i was talking about http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Citroen-Sa...#ht_1902wt_905

this one is bang on what i mean, http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/EXPG3002-C...ht_2722wt_1185

its like theres a pipe that comes out, then a smaller pipe at the end, if you get what i mean, like theres a bigger pipe then like a smaller one inside it

thats what mines is like, but its like theres the cat, then the bigger bit attached to the clamp, but then the smaller pipe has came free, so its almost back to front,

this is pretty hard to understand i know
  17. #17
could the clamp have not came loes then the pipes fallen out what have you tried doing to fix it, have you took the clamp off pushed every thing back together then put the clamp back on? mines exactly the same as the pic i just bought a new clamp and pushed every thing together then put new clamp on. like you say its hard to understand without being there and seeing whats happened lol

    like this mate

so the pipes at the end of the silencer have they snapped if so i wouldn't paste it up id buy a new centre section not that dear and you know its new and its going to fit together with no blowing. sorry i haven't been much help
  20. #20
new centre section it shall have to be then, got fuck awl money just now, so might wait a bit, i took it out earlier and its much quieter, but am still gonna cable tie it up, cheers anyway big man
  21. #21
ne bother. if you have no cash at the minute botch it up as best you can then go for a new centre section when you can then you no 100% its all going to go together fine with no worries of blowing. its annoying as hell when your exhaust blows
