I ran my car on a professional fault code reader today at college, (new piece of kit tutor loves it) to try find out what the shuddering put put put from the exhaust is.. Nothing! no fault codes at all, checked engine on oscilloscope for any abnormalities in each cylinder its almost a perfect straight line.. where is this tiny misfire coming from?!
Plugged in.. nothing?!

#2mines is doing the exact same, mine is missing a mount for the middle box so it just bounces the exhaust up and down. could be an engine mount i heard someone say but i doubt itQuote:I ran my car on a professional fault code reader today at college, (new piece of kit tutor loves it) to try find out what the shuddering put put put from the exhaust is.. #3Try another coil pack off another same spec saxo.
-
#4im pretty sure its coming from in the engine though.. if you listen too the exhaust it "put puts" misfire basically.. and when im sat in traffic i can feel it going "put" sorta of a vibration..
-
#6Oh, if it helps it doesnt really do it until it warms up
-
#7engine sounds like it's running rough? sounds to me like it's misfiring.
-
#9When you tested the temp sensor on the diagnostic computer it came up as being fine haha, see why im so irritated by it?
-
#10we* sorry
-
#11it will be coil pack mate, because my saxo misfires when it wants to, about a week ago if you floored it or put strain on the engine, the engine would judder and em light would come on, its been fine ever since but when you look under car the exhaust just bounces up and down lol, as comical as it is, it is quite irritating
-
#12A code reader will only know there is a fault if the engine managent light is on normally, so if that isn't on then that is why it didnt come up.
-
#13Mine hasnt misfired under load as of yet but the vibration and the noise from the exhaust seems to be slowly getting worse haha, i'll try another coil pack i guessQuote:it will be coil pack mate, because my saxo misfires when it wants to, about a week ago if you floored it or put strain on the engine, the engine would judder and em light would come on, its been fine ever since but when you look under car the exhaust just bounces up and down lol, as comical as it is, it is quite irritating

#14true, when i plugged mine in at my mates, it came up with nothing, i knew what it was anyway but wanted to have it confirmed,it depends how severe it is also,
-
#15I was told that code readers work on if the ECU stores the fault 3 times the light comes on and if it isnt 3 times it still stores it but doesnt put the light on am i correct?

#17If you know what it is why're you not fixing it haha
-
#18Another thing about it, it stutters and stuff when its warm only but when i first start it in the morning if i tap the throttle a few times quickly the car shudders and misfires so bad it stalls sometimes? dont know if that is related or not
-
#19its clearly related, i bet my 2pence worth its the coil pack,Quote:Another thing about it, it stutters and stuff when its warm only but when i first start it in the morning if i tap the throttle a few times quickly the car shudders and misfires so bad it stalls sometimes? dont know if that is related or not
not got money to fix it just now

#21Well it will be because a dodgy/faulty coil pack will make the engine misfire & transmit the put,put noise you mention to the exhaust.Quote:im pretty sure its coming from in the engine though.. if you listen too the exhaust it "put puts" misfire basically.. and when im sat in traffic i can feel it going "put" sorta of a vibration..
