Important! : a few things about brakes

  1. #1
    Hello there!
right today u started to re-do my brakes (new pads and disks) , and i need a quick bit of online advice from you guys.

I have changed pads on one side (will do the other when the sun is up tomorrow) and that went well, but the pads are binding against the disk. how do i stop this. i remember there being an adjuster undo the bonnet, back left, how do I adjust this?

Also the two screws holding the disk in are fucked. If i were to drill them out, how would i secure the disk into place? as it needs to be in place....

Also, as i'm here, any other advice whilst i'm doing this? any "tricks of the trade" that you guys have would be great!

Thanks in advance to your replies

the brake pads should ease off the discs a bit with use. see how they are after a few miles

also, dont worry about those screws, they dont do anything apart from hold the disc still until you bolt the wheel on

yeah, kinda. but basically nothing! it just is so tight, and when you try to remove it. you just fuck the screw up.

did you clean the carier off properly. use enough copper grease? have you pushed the piston back all the way?
the screw are there purely to make fitting the wheel easier. the wheel holds the disc into place.

at work i alway put a dab on the end of the pad where it locates into the carier and on the carier it'self and on the back of the pad on the piston side.
