vtr wheels on 1.1

  1. #1
i know this has been asked before but the answers are confusing me.

The back wheels rub when ever i go over bumps or have people in the back of the car. front wheels are fine. People say part of the arch needs to be flatend and others say that they need spacers. surely if you put spacers on it would move it closer to the arch. i haven't had the wheels tracked since they have been put on could this cause them to rub? if i cant sort it im going to take them off because also they have ruined the steering tbh and a car that cant have people in is fit for sh*t. any help would be great.

i had a 1.1 before my vtr and they went on fine without any problems, is the profile of your tyres right for the alloys?

VTR/VTS Axel have disc's not drums so are around 20mm longer on each side.
Would need 20MM on rear if furio
But i have got vts wheels on my furio without the spacers and mine dont rub with 5people in car even over speed bumps although my car isnt lowerd

Forgot to add 195/45 or 195/50 tire size

tyres are 185/55/r14 i believe. went i read up on getting them people said they would go on fine but they haven't. bit lost in what to do really. looks good though

You do NOT need spacers it will make it 10x worse.

I have a flat arch, i have had both axles and 3 different widths of wheels.

You need to remove the inner lip on the arch, thats were they rub. either that or put 165 tyres on them.

okie thanks is there a guide on how to do it. didnt really want to start hacking bits off but suppose i don't really have a choice. and 165 tyres are they stretched? dont really have the money to be messing about with tyres and the ones ive got on all have 6mm plus would be a waste.

Yea i ran mine on 165 tyres just because they are the size tyre that is on the original steels and they had good tread on them, plus i wasnt keen on removing the lip but now i have 195 tyres & a disc beam and my clearence is about 1.5mm with the lip removed

Its pretty simple tbh mate, jack the rear of the car up you will see the lip its pinting inwards towards the wheel, you dont need to cut it off all the way around however. Also if your planning on fitting any wider wheels than that in the future then while your at it theres abit of metal hidden by the rear bumper that also rubs.

Edit: best picture i have (sorry for shit quality too)

you can sort of see here were i have cut the lip off

Literally just find where they're rubbing, you should be able to see either on the tyre or if you look up under the arch, then usually it's towards the top part of the arch they rub, just use a hammer to knock it out gently and eventually it won't rub any more. Pretty much just use common sense, don't hammer anywhere that's going to be visible when you're looking at the car, keep the hammering within the arch and you'll be fine. Could only be a tiny bit rubbing.

haha i did change my mind about the chrome wipers when i had them on thought they would go with the angels but they are nowhere near as bright as wipers lol. will leave them for a bit but will change back eventually. and yeah its definatly that part, got 3 of my fat friends to sit in the back all 14 stone plus lol. there is no give in it at all will have to book it in as i think doing it low down will mean epic fail and will mess it up. needs to be up high. cheers for the help everyone

does anyone know how much it will cost to get that done at a garage?

get the chrome wipers off and tint the insets on the angels black should look better with the black wheels, then the car would be coming along nicely!

can also get some smoked side indicators for £7 delivered iirc off ebay

get a loan of a disk grinder for 5 mins and do it yourself. its only a little bit from the top of the arch towards the rear that needs trimmed off
