What are symptoms of a bad map sensor?

  1. #1
Just curious and I know these can be an issue on Sax's but what are the symptoms of a bad map sensor?
Also can anyone please give me an idea on where I find it on my 1999 T 1.4 SX?

    Cheers

Before you go looking at replacing the map sensor get your car on diagnostics machine & see what fault codes it throws up mate.

Cheers not experiencing any issues with this I dont think-I have a very slight 'bouncy' idling issue that a throttle body & ICV clean doesn't seem to have sorted.

I've got a second hand ICV now so going to try that first

fit the icv and if its no different then i would think about the map sensor. i forgot to plug mine in one day and the revs were bouncing up and down on idle as you said

A long shot-but the ICV I have ready to go in has the part code B32/01 J0310

If anyone know if this is the correct ICV for my 1999 T plate 1.4SX might save me a lot of time and trouble fitting it if not

    Cheers as usual

Did you replace with an EXACT part number?
(I found that I tried 2 with slightly different part numbers and no matter what I did-resets,long drives, disconnect battery I couldn't get the replacement ICV's to settle)
So I ended up taking the original ICV out but this time I cleaned the throttle body area too.
With the ICV I cleaned down inside the barrel 'neck' of it as I spotted it was black down there too -seems to be alright for now but I reckon will need changing at some point.
Just be careful if cleaning right down its barrel neck not to damage anything.

Good luck & hope that helps
