Bent hub?

  1. #1
whats the symptoms of a bent front hub? the reason I ask is because i have an ongoing problem where my car is pulling to the right & vibrating steering at high speeds. The pulling is at all speeds though.

I have new wheel bearings, new brakes (discs & pads), new track rod ends, wishbones & balljoints feel fine and droplinks are also new. So really the only things I haven't touched are top mounts and hubs, how would I check for a bent hub?

    cheers

edit: Tracking has also been done twice which has made no difference.

have you tried swopping the front wheels over? you could have a dodgy tyre or wheel its worth a go...

Yeah i've even tried a different set of wheels pretty sure its nothing to do with wheels/tyres

A bent hub would make the brake disc wobble as it's attached, can look like a warped disc.

Currently, I have a rotational thud, vibrating wheel and pulling to the right, the only thing I can now put it down to is a bent chassis?

I had the drivers wheel jacked up and spun it by hand and it does feel like its catching the disc on rotation so maybe that is my vibration problem but would that cause pulling too?

The pulling is most likely tracking, I've had mine tracked 4 times now and it still pulls, the only issue is a slight bit of camber on the rear passenger wheel

It gets really annoying especially at motorway speeds i havto constantly grip the steering wheel to keep it straight but don't want to chuck anymore money at it if its not gonna get fixed

My rotational thud has only appeared after I emergency stopped/locked up to avoid hitting a car that spun out in front of me in the rain the other night.

When my car gets tracked it stops the pulling for about an hour then it cocks up again, yet the track rod ends are still tight so I don't know why the wheel is moving...

could be driveshaft is knackered? when mine lost the clip and dumped grease out it pulled like a bastard

Mine is similar after the tracking has been done seems like its okish for a few miles then starts again, its a weird problem like it does it most of the time but on the odd occasion it will drive straight but not for long its like if u go over a bump its knocking something in and out of place or something, i've driven around with the windows open n can't hear anything odd also when braking that straightens it up. I'm gonna have another look at it tommorrow I think hopefully find something ive missed before

Braking doesn't straighten mine up, but going clockwise round the M25 is easy, I barely touch the steering wheel...anticlock and I have to pull it.

My top mounts (I think it's top mounts) knock when turning the wheels sometimes, I say it's them because I've got new wishbones and bushes along with drop links.

Just taken it for a spin on the dual carriageway and today its not pulling or shaking the wheel half as much as it was and actually drove pretty straight. but I can feel something wobbling under my feet when i get to 60ish i think it feels like its rotational, my driveshaft intermediate bearing is around that area isnt it? totally confused now seems like it does something different everytime i drive the bloody thing!

Right, I can't work out why my car pulls to the right or why the wheels appear to go loose when driving, it's like one moves 1/2 inch or so then moves back, but not quite in the same place, also the steering goes light, like when you wheelspin/loose traction.

But the thud is so far down to the tyres, parked up today, 2 flat spots where I locked up and a chunk missing from each tyre, I can't confirm if it's definately it, but I shall be buying new tyres in a week or so, but all signs point to it...
