screamer pipe help please

    hi guys i really want to put a screamer pipe in my new turbo build project. however i was wondering if anyone knew how to make it vent directly into the atmosphere and still be legal for MOT's

    i assume you will have to make it so the wastegate ONLY opens at above the fast idle test of a MOT which i believe is about 3k revs???

    so if you could get the screamer pipe to open above that lim,it say 4k revs then the Tester will be none the wiser??

    HOWEVER does anyone know about what PSI setting this will require??

    That's not how it works... You'd need it not to be spooled by then, if a tester sees it, it will probably fail anyway

    Mate in your position, you want a screamer that can be removed and refitted easily. Or you need to know the tester.

    As blackie says if they see it it's a fail.

    did wonder this myself can you buy banking plugs to go where the wastegate goes just fr the mot

    Would have to drive it very softly to the MOT station with that fitted lol

    Hmm, i doubt you'll get it screaming unless you're actually driving the car and have got load on the engine. Just revving it on the spot usually isn't enough to create full boost.

    Ps, you could make a blanking plate from an old brake pad. A grinder and a drill.

    as chris says the turbo wont produce the boost to open the screamer unless under load
    you could blank it off unless you have a turbo like mine and its not wastegated

    ... depends if your running an external gate or just a screamer elbow..if your trap door is welded shut for an external gate a blank wouldnt be a good idea..

    ...thats what my previous post was in referance to^^ i wouldnt drive mine like that lol

    Hi blackie yes i did pm you. So even a screamer thats elbowed off to only open at 4k plus revs would not go through?
