Timing belt Kit Saxo VTR

   Hi guys,
   
   Looking to change a timing belt within the next couple of weeks. Will buy a haynes first just to guide me through, is there anything I should specifically look out for?
   
   This is the kit I'm thinking of getting as it also has the water pump, which from my experience should be replaced...Opinions?
   
   The car is at 60,000 miles so from reading various car reviews its up for renewal.

   look in the forsale section dude there is a chap there selling the whole kit water pump ect at a very good price.
   
   also the tension is a bit of a pain if it's your first one. you should be able to turn it 90 degrees easily on the longest side (between crank and cam)
   
   also turn the engine over twice before you start it up. otherwise it's good by engine.

   I can't view anything in there as I've not got enough posts to do so. I've never bothered turning an engine over by hand before because I always mark the cogs with tippex at TDC's and apparently there are drilled holes in the crankcase to be able to secure the cogs using drill bits or allen keys. Best way to turn it over? - socket and bar on the upper pulley?
   
   As regards the tension, I was going to use the 90o rule of thumb anyhow but I thought it was meant to be difficult to get it to the 90o point.

   yeh the chap at work didn't turn them over by hand first untill doing a c-max the bottom pully was a nightmare to get off and it were a good job it had a strech belt of the alt as it locked up. turns out trying to undo the bottom pully had turned the crank 180o out and the locking pin was had 4 different location to lock into.
   
   as for turning it over you never use the camshaft dude. all turning is done on the crank and don't let it go back on it'self.
   suppose to be easy to turn to 90o but basically the deflection of around 5-10 mm

   You should always crank the engine by hand first takes 30 seconds to do and could save your engine
