As it says what's the law on wheels sticking out too far??
Laws on wheels sticking out??

#1

#2No tread must be on show.
-
#3the central 3/4 tread must not be on show - hence why people stretch so its only sidewall and shoulder.
no more than 20mm. -
#5Just run neg 4 on the front and neg 3 on the back..
Get all the treads sitting in the arch

#6

That too much? -
#7below..

#8doesnt look more than 20mm to me.

#9Fuck working in that garage would be wet all the time. They will be fine mate my wellers were stuck out about that and with some good stretch on the tyres will be perfectly legal.
Any chance u went past low cost motor spares In this today? -
#10does that garage/unit have a roof?
-
#11Haha that massive puddle u see if where some1 tried to dig there way Into the garage lol
And low lost motor spares? Where that? -
#12Btw this pic from top
-
#13The front seems a lot. I know aslong as no treads outside the arch its all good. But I do know in some places they are very picky on this. Just be careful, you can get a fine and points for each corner poking out, each cop has there own view, depends if there a twat or not.
-
#14Ok u saxp people..what do you recommend I do
Buy some 195/45/15 and make them fit
Or go down to 7js?? -
#15I'd say use 195/45/15 or to be on the safe side use 185/45/15 which I think tend to be slightly more expensive
-
#16techinically there legal if the tread is covered as said. However there is a grey area that is open to interpritation (sp) by each individual which is a legislation designed to protect podestrians (sp) and other road users. Which means the police can still fine you give you points if there been a prick and tbh on a saxo there more than likely to be bias against you slightly anyway.
There is a link on one of the vw sites somewhere however that states that stretched tyres are legal, if u ever come across a police officer, who because they've never seen them before or have very little clue will pressume there dangerous and against the law. Resulting in them trying to do you for them.
1 that alot of camber and two would need to do some serious and expensive mods to achieve it espically out back -
#17Strictly speaking what they say on the VW site is not really true. If the police did chose to take action against anyone for having stretched tyres it would be your responsibility to prove that one there complement and two that they are safe. You have the problem that if it ever did end up in court the manufacture of both your wheels and tyres would likely never be willing to say its safe to fit them out of spec as then they would be liable. So it would be a next to impossible court battle for you as a individual to win.Quote:There is a link on one of the vw sites somewhere however that states that stretched tyres are legal, if u ever come across a police officer, who because they've never seen them before or have very little clue will pressume there dangerous and against the law. #18Its not what they say on a forum mate, its a link to the guidelines for mot's vic checks etc, cant remeber what test u have to have done if u mod a car extensivley etc but it states in there as a "guidline" tho. So someone wrote a letter to the head of some transport police division and they have it in writting a confirmation. But again will all depend on the officer if they think they have a good case they would still take you to court.
