hi all, my uncle and i changed the head gasket, cam belt and aux belt this weekend

took the car out on a test run and the dials dimmed and the car died I struggled to get it home.

we set all the belt tensions as the manual states

so im not sure if we have tensioned the aux belt to tight and its causing the problem

or have we disturbed the wiring by mistake

    please help

    cheers

    Not sure.

Have a look if it is tight enough and have a look if you have disturbed the wiring by mistake.

what would happen if the belt was to tight?

not alot, just alot of strain and may cause it to snap

is there a certain way the crank shaft pully is put on after its been removed from doing the head gasket, its the ribbed pully not the v just tryin to eliminate what the problem is, so in effect if the alternator is working properly and the belt is slightly over tightened it would not be reason for the lack of charge/ car dieing

im thinking more that it might be a wiring problem EG bad earth just have to do some more problem solving tomorrow i guess

might try getting hold of a multi meter to test to see if it is sending enough charge ect

when we turned the engine over after refitting everything there was a slighty wuring noise but my uncle and i figured it was just due to the new belts needing wearing in

Ok I've found a problem on the alternator the ring connector has snapped and the wire is losse do you think that is the problem would this account for my car dieing

I've charged my battery over night and it still wont start should i get my battery checked after i replace the ring connector

and is this the right part
