'Natural' camber? UPDATE with pic

  1. #1
when you take a golf or something german really low down, they get natural camber. Obviously the rear of a saxo cant have camber, but if you drop a saxo to the floor, does the front have more camber than normal?
    standard top mounts?

Out of everyone on here, I think you would be the person to know!

haha! the reason i ask is that i just cant remember how much camber the front had before i started going silly!

now everytime i look at it, i notice the front does have slight negative camber but im not sure if its already like that to begin with lol

Yes it will, just depends how good the lateral contact patch is on a saxo. i would expect not good, so yes

Why can't the rear have camber?
  6. #6
    has torsion bars

yes front of the saxo does camber on drop. when we drop jodies car you can see the front pulling in. all because the mcpherson strut doesnt sit 100% vertical

So the wheels don't tuck in like other cars. The trailing arms just pivot if that makes sense opposed to 'tucking in'

you usually find that the cars that camber on the rear naturally done have a fixed beam they usually have independent rear trailing arms.

the strut angling in is the steering inclination

did jodies saxo have any cutting /grinding done to it?

Im guessing you mean for getting low? if so then no nothing as of yet

My front wheels have cambered since going lower, they are now like... /---\ but its not that bad.
The back wheels I'm working on a something at the moment were you can camber the wheels, something I picked up of my cousin who cambered his polo rear wheels using washers.

it'll take more than washer to camber the rear of a saxo, alot of work and not worth it
  16. #16
the rear beam is all fixed in the same plane. Washers can't change that
  17. #17
wouldnt any kind of washer/spacer/shim just make it sit wider lol?

If you put something like that on it woul have positive camber at one half rotation then negative at the other half rotation the wheels would look like they're about to fall off!

bit off topic, but ur on about camber shims, can't be done on a saxo

got my tracking done today as it was way off.
turns out i have 1.06 degrees on the left and 1.18 degrees of negative camber on the right. And it appears standard is about 0.12 degrees but the dude said from what he see's, it varies from car to car

    left

    right

    cheers for the input guys

i doubt he means on the wheel bolts lol.

Works on the hubs of corsas for example, washers behind the two bottom hub bolts = camber

No the best idea to use washers to do that.
