    this happend to me.

i didnt put the little dowel/pin thing in that holds the gearbox on, (dont know what its called or what its for)

i was sure that it wouldnt make a difference as i thought it was just to help line it up when you bolt it together, so i took it back off and put that little pin in and it started first turn.

before the starter motor was turning over but felt like it wasnt engaging and the engine wouldnt turn over.

however that fixed it anyway, so check that

Are you sure your alarm isn`t cutting the fuel supply off,or draining the battery?(had the later happen to me)

sounds more like a bad earth, have you put the one back on top of the gearbox?

getting no responce from the starter motor, sure all the locator pin were on there, earth is connected to the top of the box nothing there to short it out, and battery was chaged inside over night, pretty sure its something to do with the keycode/immobilizer system or ecu

cheers for the help so far

may have to unlock ecu and shut off the immobilizer

If it was locked ecu it would still turn over but not start, so im thinking starter motor related you put all 3 wires on it? And as said the earth on the gearbox?

2 earths go to chassis leg and 1 on top of box..

I had 2 on box and 1 on chassis.. wouldn't start.. the injector relay under the ecu was clicking.

Swapped em over, started 1st time.

from experience, i would say its an earth

Yes its been said, but its definately an earth. You'll have disturbed it removing the box, my 1.1 had a dicky earth and would just sit there making clicking noises with the tacho slowly turning!!

bump, can anyone tell me where the gearbox earth goes to?

I fear I have snagged the cable somewhere but haven't had chance to chase it yet
