leaking sunroof

  1. #1
had a leak for a while now and decided to sort it out today, its not coming from the aerial

the drips off water are actually coming from the sunroof handle, and it looks like the seal is knackered

so is there any quick fix for this without removing the sunroof? because its always raining in blackburn and i have no where to sort it apart from outside my house

    thanks

The quick fix would be some loctite silicone. Easy to apply and easy to remove when you decide to change the seal. Definitely a summer jobbie unless you have access to a garage.

do i just apply that on the seal it self?

I had exactly the same thing-just the odd leak from the winder handle.
Try slowly removing the seal cleaning between the seal and the body -you'll find that theres a lot of crud build up there all the way around and replace the seal securely.
I thought I might have to replace the seal but done this and touch wood has so far worked

didnt realise the seal come off without removing the glass

Wind the sunroof back then remove the seal at the front and clean under and around the lip which the seal sits in.Then put it on tilt and do the back.

Mine just unhooked from the body easily (wasn't bonded on) and then pushed back into place

    Hope that helps

your sunroof has drainage pipes, they often get blocked. You can get to them by removing the headlining. Just do a search. Its a common saxo issue. Plus you dont need a garage to do that job.
