Painting/Spraying Struts

  1. #1
    Hello!

I have 4 days off this weekend so in addition to replacing my gear linkage system, I thought it would be an idea to tidy up the front struts.

What is the best way to paint/spray them?

Any areas I am best not to do?

Can I get replacements bolts from Citroen for the whole setup? I am a bit ocd with things like that, hate putting old nuts/bolts back on

    Cheers

so long as you don't paint the actual damper rod (shiney bit) then anything else is fair game!

Cheers mate, guessing I will need to compress the spring and remove the top nut and then just mask off the damper rod?

seems alot of work, tbh if it was me id just wire brush it first then get a tin of hammerite and brush it on.

This and a good old hammering with a wire brush (on a grinder if you got one) and then a zink rich primer then the engine enamel on top. Just done mine the same way the week after Christmas.

i wire brushed my strut and gave it two thick coats of painted on hammerite and after a month stone chips have ruined it. i would recomend a coat of stonechip over the top

Cheers guys, what sort of places are best to get these from?

Guessing this won't be much good as the primer:

Halfords do an enamel engine paint in gloss black so will likely get that.

I am in two minds whether to actually remove the strut or paint it on the car like mentioned above
