k i know its not saxo but thought i'd share this with you guys,

Mate of mine the over day said his boring VW Golf GTi was running really lumpy at idle and one time wouldn't even start. eventually after getting the crappy german thing to run i suggested his coolant temperature sensor was spanked. in typical fashion he didn't believe me and decided on his own accord to take it to VW to get it checked they came back with nothing and wanted to run a ECU diagnostic on it for £80

Nuts to that I used my laptop and EML cable to find this:

Bare in mind the atmospheric temperature was probably 6-8degrees and the engine had been running for about 5minutes now. It started out at -17deg.C???

£16 later on a new coolant temperature sensor and literally a 5minute change she purs like a pussy now take that VW dealers £80 my arse

Don't you dare bad mouth Volkswagen! How on earth a Saxo owner can slate on of the most reliable car manufacturers in the world is beyond me.

On a brighter note, fair play for the diagnosis. Majority of people won't even service their car these days unless there's a light bulb flashing telling them to do so.

lol! like this alot im sure ill get my fair share of clapped out frenchies too, dnt get me wrong i like VWs but lately all my mates keep having engine management problems with em its like as soon as a sensor even slightly goes out of tolerance its flagged immediately and "recommended you pay VW to basically plug in to a laptop and read off what it says" - seems a rip off

Yeah I'm only interested in Mk2's and 1'ns. Don't really like touching anything with electronic ignition lol. Old school as they come!

Lada Riva is the only exception I can come up with. That truly was awful from the word go.

Niva however - what a beast.
