Hey new to this forum altho i am regularly browsing the forums.
Seem to have developed a problem with my 99 vtr saxo
When i first brought the car i used to get a little whiring noise in 5th gear, and every now and again if i dropped it into neutral would be hard to get back into gear but not for very long, Then after a while it would get stuck in neutral and with a little persuasion would go into gear but whine pritty loud for just a minute or 2 whilst driving. all seemed ok until one day driving down the motorway and it happened again when had to stop in traffic, again whined in 1st just for a little bit then went back to normal. but now it seems to do it in every gear and consistently to the point where i wont drive it, i topped up the gearbox oil and it now goes in gear allot easier but not perfect and is still very very noisy. it does still pull in every gear!
I toke it to Mr clutch to see what they suggested and all i got was the gearbox is gone, and would cost £695 for new box and clutch.
I have previously striped down a gearbox to do a clutch on my old xr2 so wanna have a go at fixing it myself, but would like to know what could be gone in the gearbox!
