can somebody work this problem out?!?

right, i have fitted a hawk remote central locking kit to both of my saxos, on my mk1 it works fine on my mk2 the fob doesn't unlock the car, it only locks the car.

so first of all i thought it might be a wiring problem, but i came to the conclusion there cant be anything wrong with my wiring, if the car locks it must mean the positive, ground and signal wires are connected properly if they weren't then the car wouldn't lock, also i have fitted this kit before and it works so i know what i'm doing

secondly i thought it could be a relay problem, but i read in the haynes manual that if the relay clicks then its working fine and it must be the component thats at fault, the relay does click when i press the unlock button so that rules out the relay and it cant be a fuse as said earlier if it didnt work then it wouldnt lock not just not unlock

thirdly i thought it MUST be the hawk kit itself, so i took the box out of my mk1 and fitted it to my mk2 and it still has the same problem

So if its not the wiring, relay, fuse or the kit itself WHAT ON EARTH CAN IT BE! ripping my hair out here lol

Poor connection to #7 or #5 on the plug side. If using Scotchlocks make sure they have cut through the insulation, it may look like it is on properly but some don't make a good connection.

+1 for the dodgy connections - the hawk system on my VTR had a similar issue ... redid the connections and all working now

i might be stupid but if there is dodgy connection then why would it work when it locks? If it locks surely it must mean the positive, negative and signal wires are connected ill go over it tomorrow again though to double check

Because one of the wires is for the locking signal, the other is for the unlocking signal. I can't remember which is which so you'll have to check connections going to both 5 and 7 on the plug. It's not getting the signal to unlock so there's a fault in that connection.
