Which brake fluid for GTI-6 upgrade

  1. #1
I am just waiting for my GTI-6 upgrade to arrive and gettign things ready, I already have extended braided hoses on order, I have used the search but havent been lucky enough ti find my answer,

can anyone recommend brake Fluid for use with these brakes, I was gonna order some Dot 4 from kam racing but my mate said 5.1 might be better but he wasnt sure, so now im not so sure either

Dot 4 will be fine, but dot 5 is better so up to you

Any good brand Dot 4 or Dot 5.1 will work fine. The Dot number does not tell you how good your fluid is but rather to what standard it is compatible. Dot 5.1 is also compatible with Dot 4 systems so you can use both just fine. Though your best not to mix them. More often then not Dot 4 race fluids actually outperform there Dot 5.1 counterparts. However cheap Dot 5.1 will normally be better then cheap Dot4. Do not use Dot 5 whatever you do. This is something totally different.

Our Dot 4 CL Brakes race fluid is better than most DOT 5.1 specs. Look at the boiling points - not the number on the front of the bottle

have heard dot 5.1 is good, going to try it when i sort my brake pipes out

The DOT rating is simply a minimum spec they all have to comply too. Race fluids far exceed these specs
