ok people...this is making simple tasks a pain in my fucking arse !! cant get front pipe off cause of it... cant even get manifold heat shield off cause of it... cant get a nut of spark plugs section cause of it.....what tools do i need to do the job please !!!

    I currently have got

5 screw type things that when you screw in and unscrew them reverse thread makes the thing come out... i also got nut extractor things u know like a towing eye and it has a sharp tool that goes through the middle...also got me wd40 n host of sockets spanners ... any1 really experienced with this type of crap and give me best practise.

if its a rounded nut or bolt, smack a smaller socket over it ( 1 or 2 sizes down ).
if its a rounded torx screw, smack a bigger torx bit into it.

With a rounded off bolt/nut you can either get a file on them & go around the edges so it resembles a nut/bolt again.Or with a bolt cut a a slot in the top & use a screwdriver on it.

hammer and chisel is a favourite of mine

although the best type of tool for the job would be something like this

its CITREON ENIT :| NONE OF IT IS NORMAL SIZES LIKE 10MM 11MM AM I RIGHT ??? SUMP....what is required anyone know anywhere i can find a list of what sizes i need ive went out buying useless tools by looks of it i bet most shit is imperial isnt it ?

depends on the situation, theres various methods for removing seized/rounded off bolts.

Sometimes smacking a bigger socket, or an extractor set works, sometimes it doesnt.

you can get a punch and hammer a small dent into the head, then try and tap it in the direction to turn it out.

Or sometimes you have to drill the head of, or sometime even drill through the whole bolt iteself and retap a new thread.

I always find it handy to have a metal cutting dremel or angle grinder to hand also.
A dremel can be used to either cut the bolt off, or you can use it to shape 2 straight edges on the bolt so you can get a spanner on it

sump takes an 8mm square cut key

most of the sizes for everything are normal though
You can probably dismantle nearly a whole saxo with a torx set, 10mm and 13mm socket lol

agreed, you must be using some shit sockets/spanners if you can't get anything to fit, no wonder everything has rounded off lol

    oxyacetylene

a little tip, when coming to a torx bit or allen key bolt, get a hammer and extension socket and place flat end of extension on bolt end and nok with hammer, usually does the trick.

    lol

Darren, they change in size slightly when they get really old and corroded. Especially on the exhaust system where it constantly gets hot and cold

    dont work tried

im gonna fuckin kick my car , proper annoying me now. even on brakes fuck all fitted but Imperial sizes ...10mm and 13mm dont do trick tried them and everyhting else, hex sockets, spanners and even bough the extra grip ones that can do 6 types hex, torx, square etc none my flippin sockets budging the crap

Sounds like a game my car likes playing.....

there are no, i repeat,no imperial fasteners on a saxo! google detcord, that may help, i've not seen a bolt yet that won't shift with that stuff. so much more effective then spanners and wd40
  19. #19
really wow whats your address and i will try detcord on your house first x
  20. #20
are you using hex sockets or ones that have like 3billion sides? if so....just use hex sockets, probs why everythings rounding off
  21. #21
You could almost take a saxo to bits with a standard socket/spanner set (including some deep sockets) and some torx bits.

Most of it seems to be 8-16mm.

Rounded nuts/bolts depends on how much room you have and whether they are in a recess.

A bolt with a nut which sticks out and has loads of roomround it will be easier to get off than a rounded off screw which is sunk in for example.

    Easiest ways are:

Bigger torx bit bashed into the hole
    Hammer and chisel
    Drill it out
    Screw extractor

as has been said, its all 10mm, 13mm and torx bits! wishbone bolts are 17/18mm, the ones for my brakes (to take the carrier off) are around 18mm??

just use decent tools, and soak with penetrating fluid or they WILL round off. not had a nut round for a while, except droplinks as they are a cunt!
  23. #23
Wire brushing on corroded nuts/bolts then soak with wd40,as does a tap with a hammer on a bolt because it jumps/frees up the thread.
  24. #24
get some adjustable long nose pliers on the go lmao get them on tight and give that ago. other than that a little heat and try your sockets again.
  25. #25
I had this problem the other day when changing my brake pads, the bolt was rounded off behind the caliper, had to take it to a garage to blast heat the fucker out.
  26. #26
Use decent tools, shit quality tools flex and f*ck things so fast. I've rarely had a bolt round off and I've taken plenty of stuff on my 3 cars apart. Saxos are all metric bolts etc. Also, I recommend reading the feature on penetrating sprays etc in this months Practical Performance Car mag.

Might be worth trying cold shock treatment on hot exhaust bolts (cheapo way is to get a compressed air duster can, turn it upside down to get the cold effect and spray the bolt)
