driveshaft carrier bolt stuck help please

    trying to take the o/s driveshaft off my vtr got both nuts off the carrier and one bolt has come loose but the bottom one is stuck so i cant get the driveshaft out (typical) think it must be siezed in or something ive tryed shocking it out by hitting the carrier but its not working.. any ideas? is it difficult to take the whole carrier off? i might just do that coz its hard to get at on the car

    If it's not coming and you feel you've tried what you can, you should just remove the carrier dude. Then at least you can have easier access to the carrier and sort it out without being stuck under a car.

    Just managed to get the bolt free now i can't get the driveshaft out anyway.. does it need to be pryed out or something? take it its the bearing that holding it now?

    ok dont think pulling is gonna work.. can feel the car trying to come off the axle stands lol, gonna try bash it out the other way if i can

    Yanking on it didn't work for me, In the end I led down, and kept a constant pulling force whilst wriggling it around.. came out eventually

    oh my god got it off with the carrier still attatched and still cant get the shaft out of the carrier.. am i doing something wrong because it just wont budge?

    Any1? had to leave it for tonight as its dark.. I don't know why the carrier is so stuck on like from what people have told me it should'nt be that hard to remove? the bolts are loose so nothing stopping it coming out other than the bearing as far as i know

    It will come out, the bearing is supposed to be a fairly tight fit so it doesn't move around, chances are its been in there a fair old time and its a bit seized in there. If you have a vice it would probably make things a lot easier? Or a little bit of heat maybe?

    Yeah had it in the vice earlier trying to knock it out with a hammer, not really sure if it moved any because it was getting dark and had no light in the garage. Hopefully it will come out tommorrow coz its starting to do my head in and its a bit of a pain because if you hit the carrier itself it takes chunks out of it so trying not to damage it at the same time..

    by the way is the new one easier to fit? lol
