Just another set of black gti wheel's nothing new but yeah they are shiny.

dont seem too enthused?? its a good choice of alloy on a budget.
always see these in white or matte/satin and i am trying to keep car on a black n green theme.
saw a posi blue vtr with these in white and a "saxo" vinyl on the wheels in blue and looked really nice but i think green wouldnt show up too well against the black and white just wouldnt look right

i thinking of doing this to my dodge sport alloys but what type sand papers did you use grades and how long did it take you ?
sorry if this is off subject .#
    thanks

quite alright,if wheels are in good nick do these steps and should b fine.takes 3 days to do properly
    -wet flat with 400
    -de-grease or panel wipe clean
    -3/4 coats of primer
    -wet flat with 800
    -de-grease or panel wipe clean
-3/4 coats of paint (lightly on coats 1 and 2 then build up with 3rd and 4th but beware of putting too much as runs will appear)
    -wet flat with 1200
    -de-grease or panel wipe clean
    -2/3 good coats of lacquer
    -wet flat 2000
    ta dah
also give 24hrs between spraying and flatting to ensure you dont get any reactions in paint. hope that helps

I have just finished sanding down my 205 gti wheels. But im doing mine gloss white as i love white wheels.

Do you not need to sand down between coats?

Im just wondering as i never last time i refurbed wheels and the paint slowly chipped off them

    not greatest pic
they had been painted badly before i got them, alot of scratches from not preparing surface properly.
for a set of 5 with bout 5mm tread on all for 90quid, cannot complain.
only refurbing now as i have bought 4 new uniroyal tyres

lots of wet/dry sanding, filling (forgot name of the stuff i used), primer then more sanding and filling where needed. obviously cleaned/degreased wheels after sanding etc.
as for how long, i did it in my spare time over 2 months.
2 tyres are going on today
  29. #29
thats gd,i am hoping to do mines within a week n a half tops from 2moro morning.got to get the tyres taken off in morning.i am going to give the inside of the alloy too,i can see the inside hoop too much for my liking, only enough to cover it and wont need to be lacquered.

    front needs lowering
  33. #33
this has given me the motivation to buy some n get spraying
  34. #34
cudnt go lower in front where i live n work but its down 35/40mm front/rear.
jus take time in the prep before applying anything and alot ov wet flatting will bore you silly but you will c the results if you take time .D
  35. #35
i had to buy new centre caps for mine too.
you seen how much a set of 4 is on ebay lol
  36. #36

you should, but whether you do or not is upto you.
everything on mine is declared and made no difference cost wise, only time mine will go up is if i put cams in etc
  39. #39
Looks good but I think silver works best on 205 gti wheels
  40. #40
yep as pricey as my bolts which were 40quid
