Cooling problem please help :)

    Right, it's -8 Atm outside and iv got a problem with my Saxo saying it's overheating but I'm sure it's not, iv hunted around on here for an hour now and I have a good idea what it cud be, I just want to tell one of you boffins all the symptoms;

    Temp is goin right up on gauge and red light coming on

    No heating.. Stone cold

    Can hear water rushing around engine when started up

    Fan is kicking in when it shud but staying on forever!!

    Water and coolant levels good

    No Mayo under cap, don't think its HG

    Now iv just dropped my missus off and it's -8 outside and there's no way that engine was hot, I felt the top pipe goin to rad and I could hold it.. Guessing it was cold then right?

    So I'm either thinking thermostat? Bleeding?

    Any help much appreciated. Ta

    Forgot to mention. This happened a few weeks ago.. Heating went cold. Temp went up. But it sorted itself out?!

    Could be air lock, would try fix is or you will blow your headgasket.

    Okay mate, just need to bleed it right? I'm a plumber so I know how that works roughly. Iv read on here 3 bleed nipples? Obv do it whilst engine running?

    Could be thermostat, best change it, refill and bleed system.
    Header tank
    Heater and fan on full
    Rad/thermostat/pipe bleeders in that order
    Keep header on until fan kicks in 3 times

    Heater matrix could also be the problem, check your floor for dampness, had the exact same problems ^^
