really bad knocking

this is my second post to try and solve this problem after im not having much luck with my VTR

    Parts that have been replaces;
both drive shafts (2nd hand but had them checked first before fitting )
    steering rack
gear box what has done 31k

all parts was fitted by a mechanic and checked before fitting

these parts have been checked so can be ruled out

    drop links
    anti roll bar
    bottom arm
    ball joints

basically it has happened since i snapped my shaft ( o/s )
since that was repaired i had a terrible knocking noise when turning left but only when accelerating so i have had the above parts replaced and the others checked so all the above is OK

i have noticed that when i am reversing off my drive that when i have full lock to the left and reversing that it knocks and feels like the car judders asif i was going over a cobbled road :/ this is very confusing and hard to explain

i have also notices that the left front wheel looks slightly set back to the right i didnt know if this was due to me fitting a wing and inner arch but the arch and wing look set ok

    HELP NEEDED AND MUCH APPRECIATED

I would have said ball joints but you've ruled them out so fuck no's
  3. #3
Were the replaced ball joints new parts?
  4. #4
yes they was new balljoints also i didn't think the balljoints would knock when only accelerating

also i do have low pads but they don't grind

I know you said you checked driveshaft and changed them but i would say it's them tbh.

the drive shafts are fine they are smooth and have no play new boots, all greased and they are the correct ones with the taper on for the mk2

have you changed the wheel bearing in the leg that you snapped the drive shaft in? if its not the drive shaft like you are saying, as i thought it would be, but if your 100 percent sure its not what you have stated i would put my money on that wheel bearing,

not sure if i missed this out when reading but have you checked all engine mounts?

edit: just read its when turning left so doubt its the engine mounts lol.. i'd definately check out whats going on with the wheel being further back than the other though!

ye mounts are all inplace just looked under left wheel arch to see the upper sleave covering top of shock is off and exposing the shocker bearings think the bearings might have gone any thoughts to this

i honestly think it is bearing inner race is slightly of set or pissed or even dented could be minor damage to the bearing but made a big impact i would change it have a good look at the back and bearing its self take drive shaft out and spin of jack car up, turn wheel and check gap from wing and angles while turning it hope this solves your problem
