Where do I go about my seemingly f*cked JVC stereo/cd player :/

  1. #1
My JVC has been fucking up, randomly interferes quite badly on songs played off of CDs. Can interfere with the radio too I think, just generally seems a bit f*cked. Wondering where I could take it to get a closer look done and how much it could be costing me if it's say the entire stereo/internal system.

I'm hoping it could just be some hidden loose wiring, or maybe a dirty cd disk drive? Or something easy to solve? :/
  2. #2
Could send it to jvc themselves? Not sure how much it would cost though. It's probably cheaper to get a new/2nd hand one though :/

Good shout, never heard of them before!

What do they do, just specialise in car stereo systems I assume?

    Thanks

I don't know what the problem is though?

Is the unit basically the entire thing, hold cd, plays cd etc?

But if there's a problem with the radio too, surely it's nothing to do with the unit?

The head unit is the thing that pops out though, right?
  14. #14
The head unit is the whole thing.

The interference will either be an internal issue or a wiring fault. You can get interference blockers, however in my experience they dont work.

R.E. JVC, everybody I know that's had a JVC has had faults around the time they hit one year old, would never buy one personally. Again, in my experience, seem pretty shoddily built.

    Oh right awesome

So, £60 and you get the head unit (the whole thing) which is the insertable thing which you select on, the internal cd disk drive and components etc ?

Cause I looked up online and it looked like £60 just for the insertable head unit thing that just allows you to select your media

    Thanks

I think it's an internal issue tbh, because my step dad pulled on the wiring at the back and said he couldn't feel any issues.

    What's an interference blocker?

And if it's an internal issue, should I just get a whole new system?

How much will it set me back?

    Thanks!

They're pointless. It's just some extra wiring.

Get a new unit, and cost depends on what you want from it.

    Look here: http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/sub...r-stereos.html

Will give you a rough idea, personally would go with pioneer or alpine.

Found quite a good one for about £50,

So that's the entire thing? The whole disk drive and screen, not just screen?

I just hope I wouldn't buy one and find the same problem to occur, would be a bad set back,

    Thanks for help

Yeah that will be the whole thing.

And yeah its easy to fit.

Thanks for all the help man

I'm looking into getting this one http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/pro..._id/10980.html looks quite good value for what it is

One last question, my current JVC system I swear is not as simple as just pulling the entire thing out? It seems to be lodged in properly like it's been professionally done or something. I took off the faceplate and I really wouldn't know how to go about getting it off.

Would that linked one above be easy to fit? I'd probably have to go somewhere to get the original taken out either way though

    Thanks!

To be honest with you, Samuel, by just reading through these few posts you have made, I'd say you will definitely need some help with this.........you don't even seem to know what a head unit is.

Do you have someone to help you put petrol in too?

Don't buy no-name CD players. Or JVC from what I've read...

Get yourself an Alpine, Pioneer or Sony headunit (My sony is still going strong 5 years on...)

Either buy it from that website and get a friend to fit it.

Or purchase it from a Car Audio Shop and get them to fit it, I wouldn't use Halfords, from what I hear they charge a fortune for fitting and potentially not very clued up...

Excuse the language but it looks like bottom barrel shite. You won't get anything even half decent for that sort of price. Anything under £100 is average at best.

Avoid that one you linked like the plague, spend a bit more and go for one of these:

    Pioneer DEH-1300MP

    Pioneer DEH-140UB

Out of those I'd get the second one if I was going so cheap.

Also, it'll need removal keys to be used.

Read what I said John, my experience of them, which is enough to put me off big time.

My brother had one of those JVC Exad head units, broke after 6 months, JVC refused to acknowledge it had anything to do with them. He then bought a Scooby, fitted a single din flip out screen JVC unit, guess what it broke, and JVC, again, wanted nothing to do with it.

Whereas I had an Alpine unit for 4 years, used it daily and never had any issues. I now have a double din Pioneer unit, and its been perfect.

I know where I would and wouldn't be spending my money...
