saxo engine replacement not firing

  1. #1
Got a 2002 saxo desire 1.1, which after a catastrophic self dstruction brought about by the failure of the timing belt, has had an engine swap.

The donor lump came from an rear ended accident damaged 2002 vehicle of identical specs.

Having successfully fitted the new engine, I'm having problems getting it to start. I have compression, spark, and the fuel system is pressurised. I'm getting no fuel through the injectors and the immobilisor lamp on the dash has lit up. I've replaced the aerial ring around the ignition barrel, but to no avail.

I have an ODB unit, which i have plugged in, but am not getting any response from thw ecu to open communication.

I've done a physical inspection of the wiring, and I can't see anything wrong.

Anyone got any ideas where i should be looking next?

Did you change the ECU mate?

No, original ecu is still in the vehicle. One of the 3 plug jobbies

Strange sounds like you locked ecu but if you didnt change the ECU should be fine. You done any wiring work?

Only wiring work I've done is.to repair the crimped loop on the.end of the alternator lead, as the original alternator had corroded it off. Otherwise, everything was just plugged back in where it came from. Ecu was unplugged, to make it easier to get the lump out, but the battery had already come off.

How can I tell if the ecu has locked?
  8. #8
Normally with the key light flashing and the coil not sparking, but if you not changed ecu and done nothing to the wiring shouldnt have locked it.

just a thought mate, when my conversion was finished the and thing wouldn't start, we had the same symptoms as you and it turned out there was one earth not connected. go over all your wiring and make sure everything is where is should be

Took it all apart again, reconnected all the wiring and hey presto, it works!
