#2Sounds like your alternator has failed and the battery has lost it's charge.
Look in the engine bay and check the belt hasn't snapped. -
#3Alarms n lights come on fine belts not snapped....I drove it like 5 minm ago take kid to school.....nmow it jus won't attempt tooo turn
-
#4call some friends to push the car out of the yellow lines or the AA. If it clicks, it could be the starter motor.
*nothingQuote:nuffink -
#5Well yeah. Powering lights is a little different to cranking a big hefty engine isn't it.
Starter motor could be stuck yeah, give it a whack -
#8Realllllllllly???? Not like not got time I'm fucking stuck :-) imoob seems to be fine just batt symbol when on , and when I press key all the gauges work . The click is from inside the car near fusebox slash behind centre console, its same click when nothing happens cause car immobilised however like I said all the gauges n everything come on asif the key has deactivated it....its a toad alarm all. I know
-
#9Yup click is deffo from fusebox area passenger side ... Just 1 click same as what it does when car is immobile
-
#10try to push start the car.
-
#11Ok if the car cut out, it won't be anything to do with the starter motor. Seriously sounds like the battery has died due to alternator fail.
Ignore that bloke ^^^ He's trying to get his posts up. -
#13agree with that, had simular happen to me while on the M6, cable to the alternator had snapped so battery just died, did eventually manage to get it started so I could move it off the M6 though

#14Quote:An why are you parking on yellow lines for? ... Hope you get a ticket! Or even towed away ... An I dont mean by the AA or RAC!morralQuote:Yeah ... morral of this thread ... Dont park on yellow lines! ... So what you sayin they've changed the law now?
.... Because people should be able to choose where and when their car breaks down, you mong.

#15Vtrs24v, if the lad has broken down and the car is confirmed to be inoperative, he is completely within his rights to stop on double yellow lines until the car is removed or fixed. Shut the fuck up and take your spam elsewhere, trying to be clever hasn't worked out too well, perhaps it's time to use humourous pictures with large white text to troll instead?
-
#16At least provide an argument if you're going to disagree. What are your points and how have you reached that decision?
If your car suddenly cut out, would you dump it in the middle of a busy road or try to get it onto a kerb out of the way? -
#17not to take sides as i think vtrs24v is a troll, i just had a quick look on google and apparently if you break down on double yellows you must push the car to a location of safety and non obstruction. i haven't actually seen the highway code so i'm not 100%
-
#18Wow i really cant see that? Did you get that on Yahoo:Questions or whatever its called?Quote:not to take sides as i think vtrs24v is a troll, i just had a quick look on google and apparently if you break down on double yellows you must push the car to a location of safety and non obstruction. i haven't actually seen the highway code so i'm not 100%
That seems harsh if it is the case, what happens if your an old lady or partially disabled? -

#20I had my car crashed into on a roundabout, I stopped in the middle of the road and limped the car to the side of the road and onto the pavement slightly (on double yellows). Police were in attendance and I asked if it was ok there and they had no issues.
I assume it's a little different if all 4 wheels are pointing the same way and you're not gushing blood from your face but I'm pretty certain you're allowed to stop there if the car is broken. -
#21same happened to me and the AA bloke said the whole engine was seized, what a wolly i already new it was the alternator but as you no they do these checks. Mine sounded exactly like yours it was just the alternator seized up and it also clicked near the fusebox, changed the alternator and its fine
hope this helps.
