coilover assembly...

  1. #1
Right this may be a stupid question but i just have to check. I'v checked the internet and still unsure. I bought these coilovers off a lad on here and i assembled them with the more compressed part of the spring at the bottom (on the adjustable sleeve). I thought this was fine untill I saw someone else had done the opposite, really unsure which it is..... please help lol

ye i'm not fussed about the quality lol because ino they'r a bit....... frowned upon lol, just need to know which way the spring sits when you fit them

If you are not fussed about quality then just remove your springs as thats what these are on par with.

Id fit it with the tighter coils on the strut anyway.

Its won't make any difference which way they are mate but id put the compressed bit at the top

I had same kit before, compressed part went on the bottom.

ok cheers mate, there realy not as bad as people say, they'r not perfect but they work I don't want to spend 300+quid on coilovers when thats more than half the price of the car!!!!!

you can get them machined so that the poor design isnt obstructive and they actually work as they should, but you still need to change the springs and dampers as theyre softer and worse than standard. So all you are left with by the end is the £20 threaded collar.

which is soft and cross threads really easily so ive heard lol

lol and that, so you are left with scrap metal which hardly weights anything as its basically made of foil!

You should be fussed, Is your life on the line I wouldn't put these on my RC car never alone my full size one. bin them i say.

the design of them is terrible, the diameter of the spring is greater then the spring pan, which means if you have a spring break, it drops straight onto the tyre. Citroen recalled all C2s due to this design fault and put spring retainers on, please dispose of them

    quids in

I got of these for my daily vtr did 2 miles and took them back off, the slightest bump/divet and it was like driving into a curb.

aren't these made by the same company who manufacture those springy rocking horse type thingys found in council playgrounds?

When people like yourself buy them, they dont care.

It's perception, people think that because they are coil-overs, they will work better. Get some Koni inserts and spax springs, i really liked them on my AX and the koni's are adjustable, albeit with a cam and you have to strip the struts to do it, but they do work well enough and don't cost the earth!

the real reason i bought them was because they are cheap not the safety lol sounds bad but for someone who earns about 130 quid a month...... it makes sense. i'm sure i'l be alrite people may just be going ott
