Failed MOT

  1. #1
I have a T reg 1.6 and it has failed its MOT, mostly on minor things which will probably be easy to fix but it has got one or two major problems. I was wondering if someone could give me a bit more info on what the problems are and how much they are likely to cost to fix. The biggest problems are:

Nearside rear Torsion bar excessive play at end of fixing.
Offside front suspension has excessive play in a lower suspension ball joint.
Nearside front track rod end ball joint has excessive play.

    Any help greatly appreciated.

jack the rear end up and check for play and report back.

may need your wish bone replaced
and a new track rod end ( you will need to get the wheels re-aligned)

    lower balljoint - £7.50
    Trackrod end - £7

    labour fitting - 1-2hours

    ^^not major.. common 106/saxo fails

Torsion bar problem, may just be something loose. Ask the garage the did the mot for more details/show you the problem

    more than likely
    1. new/ 2nd hand axel- could be something worked it's way loose though
    2. new lower arm/ ball joint (would recomend the whole arm)
    3. new track rod end

all above is easy to do if your handy with tools. to do yourself. ofcourse if you change the track rod end then you'll need the tracking checking.

and above could be done for less than £200
    1. 2nd hand axel- 120.
    2. new lower arm- £50
    3. new track rod end- £15

    edit
    damn beaten to it lol

Thanks a lot everyone for the help so far but I'm probably not going to be much help I don't have a jack to hand at the moment and if I did I wouldn't really know what I'm looking for. Sorry.
