Can you tell me where I can get the stuff from and how much it's likely to cost?

decent suspension and decent pads. Works for saxmax and stock hatch

But then how much would decent suspension set us back? We probs have about £200 to spend, and we need new brakes bigtime what do u think we can do with that sort of money

well these nice big brakes are not going to greatly reduce stopping distance anyway so it would be better to spend £200 on suspension like Apex. More control over the weight transfer will allow you to press the brakes harder without wheels sliding.

So apex spring and dampers if budget allows, we will just get a new set of standard pads.
How low do you think we should go about 40mm?

on the vtr you only have two options. 25mm or 50mm

Right so.. 50mm springs? And standard brakes with a fresh pair of pads

thats where I would start. Upgrading the brakes should really be the last thing to do on the chassis. Double check your tyre condition as well.
A good chassis will work the standard braking system better. What most people are changing with big calipers and discs is the modulation of the hydraulic system rather than the maximum force that can be applied before locking up. Maybe you will see a bigger effort at the disc for less effort at your foot but moving the caliper away from the fulcrum, or using bigger pads is not the primary method of improving braking distance. The need for greater heat dissipation is debatable on a road car though for track cars it can be a big benefit.
