everything has been changed new belt wheels ect but wont start when trying to start it u can hear a poping sound as if its fireing exsaust gets hot and smoke from exaust thats y i think valves are shot

    Check your timing mate.
  6. #6
you will be able to tell if it bent the valves.

it will spin over really fast due to no compression.

or will lock up as the piston hits the valve head.

backfiring is normally the timing out.

Did you take the head off when you replaced the belt to check for damage caused by the failure?
  8. #8
Manually time it up then crank it over by hand a few times and if all good it should be safe to turn over via the stater........
  9. #9
bent valves, popping is exhaust gases trying to get out of bent inlet valves
