Knocking after replacing clutch.

  1. #1
So I've change my clutch (AA guy said it was clutch after I said cable, was cable after I took the clutch off and it was fine) while doing this I changed the box as it whined a bit, after putting it back together when I turn it over it "Catch's something then lets go" Turning it over by hand I can feel it catching something then letting go...

    Happens if clutch is de-pressed/pressed.

Not first time I've changed the clutch (3rd) So I'd like to think I've done it correctly :/

Any help/pointers, oh also was told gearbox was low mileage and good nick off a lad on here.

    Cheers

Hi mate, sorry didn't torque them this time just to how I felt appropriate but last few times I think it was 17nM/Lb ft can't remember of top of my head which one, and I've not got haynes with me!

25nm for the pressure plate bolts. seems to be a std rating.

does the clutch disengage correctly. sounds like the release bearing could be sat wrongly on the arm

Well I've taken it apart, and there's no damage inside to the springs or friction plate, and the pressure plate sits nice and flat on the flywheel. I'm guessing release bearing at the moment.
