#2the hole isn't the correct size to take the tap then, either that or you are using the wrong cut of tap, from my apprentice days iirc there are three stages to tapping a hole correctly, the first is quite tapered to allow it to enter and cut, the second is more parallel and if it was a blind hole, finished with a plug tap which is basically designed to cut to the very end of the drilling

#3M10 tap we are trying to use as the guide says for fitting a raceland. Cn you use the tap in a drill or do you have to do it by hand?
-
#4Dont use a drill

I remember it taking me ages aswell! Kept trying and eventually got it to 'grip'. -
#5Cheers mate, think its getting there now, feels like it wants to grip now but its not doin, so will kepp trying and will get there

#6is it a good quality tap? needs to be good quality to tap into the block
-
#7Erm do I need to use a 8.5 drill bit first? And the tap set cost him £25
-
#8i'd use a bit bigger then a 8.5 for a 10mm thread tbh, don't know the exact tapping size, though you can google that, but i'd try a 9mm drill, oh and £25 doesn't buy you a deal in the way of taps and dies tbh

#9Will 9mm be ok then?
