fan switch / temp sensor issues

  1. #1
Having swapped the lump in my 2002 1.1l saxo, I've managed to get it started, now i have an issue with thwcooling fan switch, mainly my loom has a blue 3 pin plug (only 2 used, pink and green wires) and the new engine has a green plastic plug with only 2 pins.

I am unable therefore to connect my loom to this sensor, and as the thing is of all plastic construction, I am unable to remove it from the housing ( it just bends and comes out of he spanner / wrench / whatever else i could find to get the thing out).

As this isnt connected my cooling fan kicks in as soon as the engine starts, and the temp warning light is lit on the dash. Also the temp gauge is on stone cold, but this i expected as the thing isnt plugged in.

Now I have the original sensor from my original engine, but as I cant get this plastic thing out, i cant swap it.

Anyone had this before? Or got any ideas how to get this darn plug out?

Or am i going to have to swap the whole thermostat housing over? If so what is the black Goo like sealant that's used to seal the housing to the head?

The sealant would be something like this:

Thanks, looks like this might be the easier route...
