Car struggling to gain power after 3k revs

    It seems to be an intermittent problem at the moment..
    I've bought brand new;
    Coilpack
    HT Leads
    Spark Plugs
    Temp sensor
    ICV
    Lambda Sensor
    Exhaust (No Cat)
    Fuel Filter

    It idles a bit shit after initializing the ICV (heard some cheap eBay ones can be useless). When the car hits 3k revs I can tap the accelerator quickly and it runs fine, whereas if my foot was steady it seems as though it's limited..

    The engine diagnostic light pops up every now and then but don't fancy getting it diagnosed just yet (from the cost of the new parts it might have been a good idea).

    Also it was running like this previously, then it ran fine again for 2/3 days and now it's struggling again.

    What do?

    sounds like it's either the map or maf sensor.

    stop wasting money and get it plugged into man.

    AFAIK 1.1 SPI don't have MAP sensors and I suppose you're right about getting it plugged in! Will it still diagnose a problem even if the light doesn't come on that often?

    Yes as the light's been on before the ECU remember's the fault code.
