Sub blowing fuses HELP A.S.A.P please

  1. #1
set up... edge active sub, built in amp, and wiring kit that came with it,

    blowing fuses everytime its connected.....

what i've tried is, connecting earth under the seat, to the light fixing bolt, to the chassis on a random bolt, ive wire brushed the connecting points and the lot, ive tried it with rca speaker cable connected and disconnected, etc doesnt make a difference...

i connected positive to the amp, without connecting earth, but as soon as i touch the earth down or connect the earth then connect the fuse or positive afterwards, fuse blows straight away...

i have just took the sub out of my other car (a corsa c) it worked fine no problems etc, i disconnected it in the right way etc, then i connected it the right way into another car, and its just blowing fuses where ever i try the earth at, the rms output is 30rms, i only need a 20 amp fuse for it too work like i did in my the corsa, so i think it may be the earth, but i dont know any other way to earth it apart from all the ones i have tried... i dont think it will be the amp or the cross over etc, as it is a built in amp the cross over is already preset and i tried turning the sub right down all the knobs before i connected too,

stuck for what to do next, im getting a multimeter, gonna try test it but this wont be for a while yet, so i need to know if theres any other way and if it is the earth or not

    help please people?

    cheers,

    jamie

Maybe the fuse in it doesn't offer enough resistance, hence it blowing all the time.

My bad, I see you've already thought of that.

Usually if the earthings wrong, the amp goes into protect mode rather than blowing a fuse, although it probably could happen.

9/10 it's something simple, something that you think you'd have looked at but have just missed. go over all the wiring methodically and double check dude

cheers mate, ive went over all the wiring twice, the fuse doesnt blow without the earth connected, i dont know what this means wrong tbh, dont know why its going wrong haha, might strip it out and rewire it when weather settles down, until then see if anyone else has ansswers haha, shit like pissing me right off

sounds to me like you've put the earth/pos wires on the amp backwards?

    The Amp is fubar.

Had a problem with my mates Edge Sub when installing, sparking and blowing everytime. The Amp was fucked internally, and that was new, what you get when buying budget audio.
