GTi/VTS airbox differences

  1. #1
Is there any differences between the airbox setups? I have ducting from a 2001 VTS but I can't get it on my Gti. There seems too little space!

i wouldn't have thought so , seeing as they are both the same engine :/

Thats what I thought but on mine there is definately not enough room to fit all the ducting in. It sits on the side of the exhaust manifold and radiator. There are pipes from the steering and coolant in the way too : I'll upload a pic of my engine bay in a bit.

This is a pic of my engine bay

    Airbox and ducting

There doesn't seem enough space to fit the 2 long tubes into that space around the coolant/steering pipes and pump. The ducting also crunces against the radiator and touces the exhaust manifold heatshield. The inlet scoop also does not fit.

    The airbox itself fits fine.

the engine bay size may be different, ive got both mk1 and mk2 saxos, ive owned a gti and my housemate has had a billion and one s1 106's and all the bays look different sizes, the mk1 saxo bay looks by far the biggest, so that might be the problem, and then the mk2 saxo, then the s2 106 and then the s1 106 being the smallest, this is just me having a wild stab in the dark here so dont quote me on it

Dont bother with the ducting i never did on my 16v i just had the airbox in and that was it.

The airbox on its own is fine, you don't really need the resonator box or all the ducting. Try using the scoop that goes on the slam panel and take some kind of air feed from there to the filter box if you must, but mined just running the filter box as I couldn't fit mine in properly either

I just got a k&n air feed from the slam panel scoop to the air box, I'm selling it all now btw lol
