how to convert ur fog lights and headlights for peanuts!

  1. #1
got your attention? well if u want ur lights to be diff like mine below. u can do for nothing. all you need is the colour paint u want!.

what you need is to first remove the lights.
remove the backing so the bulbs and plate so u got the unit. (glass and whats stuck to it).

place in a hot oven for 5-10 mins but b careful as to hot will crack the glass!

when the unit is hot enough the glue that is used is like rubber so it will weaken under the heat and thus u can put aprt the glass from the rest of the headlight! (plz used oven gloves as it bloodly hurts) whilst u hav done this spray the silver section the colour u want. avoding the indicator lenses etc)

once dry place both units back into the oven untilthe rubber has gone goowey agian and place the glass back onto it and as the rubber hardens by the air thus u hav a modded stock item which cost u peanuts rather than buy smoked units on ebay for 60 quid etc. mine look good and was done by myself! think urs can?

p.s plz ensure no rubber is left on the oven tray as my dad had a massive fuss and i had to buy another one for him!

same here, best thing to do, buy a crappy headlamp and strip the bit off it, a crap one cant cost you more than 10/15 quid

    or follow this?

Hopefully this guide will enable you to convert your standard Citroen headlamps to smoked units.

    smoked headlamp guide V1.0

Each lamp is identical in build so after completing one unit repeat on the other side.

    1. Remove the standard headlamps from the car (use Haynes manual if unsure). Be careful, work slow and break less.

    2. Use a hair dryer and a craft knife to “split” the lens from the headlamp case. It helps if the place you are working is warm.

    3. Remove the chrome insert from the headlamp case and rub down using a fine sandpaper. Take the indicator lense out. (make a mask to cover the indicator section)

    4. Coat the insert using plastic primer, you need a good 2-3 coats leaving to dry in between.

    5. Use a damp cloth or wet and dry paper to remove any rough areas of the finish.

    6. Paint the insert with the final colour (your choice). Again use a good 2 -3 coats.

    7. Replace the indicator lens

    8. Replace the painted insert back into the headlamp unit.

    9. Wipe the inside of the glass lens to prevent “misting” and marks in the future.

10a. Warm the sealer around the edge of the lens and lamp unit with a hair dryer.

    10b. Replace the lens.

    11. Refit the headlamp to the car.

If you have any more questions to ask please PM me.

You can't get indicator lense seperate as far as i am aware mate. you will need to try and find some from damaged light units at the scrappers or breakers.

Bit random.... but did you seriously put it in the OVEN!!! Think its just me but that is soo funny!

Could you do it again and take a picture plz!!?

yes most certainly as an oven heats all the surrounding area and thus allow it to weaken the glue.
