immobiliser problem

  1. #1
hi there just wondering if anyone can help me ?????

    got a saxo 1.1 on w reg 2000
had a clutch fitted and since then immobiliser light has been flashing !!!
needless to say cant drive it and been sitting in the drive for 6 weeks now !!

had a couple of people look at it and have come to conclusion that the ecu has not reset itself after the battery being disconnected

as i dont have the fob which came with car i have no way of resseting it
have tried all the usual tricks and many more ( listed on google ) lol

so have been told i need to replace ecu , transponder , and barrel
a mate of mine has got a complete set with door and boot lock that i could fit to save having 2 keys

but it is off a 1.6 03 plate saxo vtr .

all the items look the same and have same connections but would it be ok or even run a 1.1 petrol ????

any help would be very very gratefully received
as the missus has had enough of a saxo for a garden ornament !!!! lol

relay under ecu tray, check it cos it controls immobiliser and fuel pump and would give you flashing light; happened with mine

check the earth on the gearbox

i say this because when we done the conversion on my car the gearbox earth wasn't connected so the immobiliser light was flashing and the car wouldn't start. it could just be that your earth needs cleaned up

or try testing alternator for 21v, happend to me, just stick a jump lead from battery to alternator and see if light goes out.

    just an update

found the problem and fixed it

the bloke i paid to change my clutch had snapped the wire which piggy backs off the solenoid so basically had a 12 volt to feed starter motor but nothing else so ecu wasnt being powered up ....

so much for him saying he had checked his work and nothing wrong with what he had done ..

needless to say will be expecting some type of refund as spent quite a bit to find out he had snapped the wire ...
