what would happen if i put a 1.1 fly wheel and clutch on a 1.6 vtr? lol haha
problem fly wheel and clutch
-
#1
-
#2Nothing at all even if it does fit.
-
#3probably burn the clutch out in no time
-
#4problem i got is hell of a knocking noise from box some were and rev counter dont work
-
#5flywheel and clutch won't sort that out though
-
#6When does the knocking noise happen? You checked the gear oil lately? Knocking noise could be coming from the inner CV joints if they are bad, although usually its more of a vibration felt through the wheels.
-
#7done engine converstion from 1.1 to vtr put 1.1 fly wheel clutch and thrust bearing started the car reved the car to nite and it is knocking and rev counter wont work and when you push clutch quietens then when reving knocking gets loader sounds in gear box, cv joints it cant be because it does it when car aint in gear just in nuetral on tick over and when you push excellerator
-
#8thrust bearing.
-
#9you put the correct amount of gearbox and engine oil in?
-
#10It shouldn't technically work surely? a VTR Flywheel/Clutch is 200mm? and the 1.1 is 183mm? or 180 blah blah. I'd fuck the flywheel n clutch off.
-
#11thought it could be thrush bearing and there is a bit of oil in her what is the correct amount?
-
#12thats what im thinking of doin taking box out to morrow not sure what this is but need to locate cheap fly wheel any one no how much these are new?
-
#13Thrust bearing is not usually a knocking noise, its more of a rattle, but it definately sounds like it with the symptoms you describe. A mismatch of parts usually spells problems, I'd fit the correct parts before they cause you possibly more problems.
-
#14Youre better off picking up a flywheel from a breakers yard if they'll sell you it seperately, new ones can be pricey!
-
#15thrust bearing is a fast knocking sound when it gets worse and worse, mine is just now.
-
#17have a feeling my fly wheel could be loose now would make sense lmfao
-
#18Course it will work LOLQuote:thats what im thinking of doin taking box out to morrow not sure what this is but need to locate cheap fly wheel any one no how much these are new?
its just smaller in diameter thats all.. wont take as much torque through it, hence then 1.6's have a 200mm clutch.
Using a 1.1 clutch will in be kinda like having a lightened flywheel... obv being smaller the 1.1 flywheel and clutch assy will weight less
Wont last as long thou, especially if you abuse it!
Your problem sounds thrust bearing.. or something not done up properly. Maybe flywheel wasnt properly seated on the end of the crank
Rev counter not working is nothing todo with the gearbox... ecu gives the rev counter signal to the dash -
#20appreciate that yea fly wheel is loose ooopss lol and not sure wy rev counter aint working the box under steering wheel would have nothin to do with it will it as i have put a unlocked ecu on and disconnected black box??
-
#21the immobiliser has got nothing to do with the rev counter
-
#22could it be a fuse but thing is only the fuel gage works
