ecu and loom match

  1. #1
do all 3 plug ecu's match the engine loom and interior loom fine without having to splice anything.
like say i bought an ecu off one person, an engine loom off someone else and an interior loom off a 3rd different person, whats the odds of them matching, considering all where from a 3 plug car?

reason i ask is i bought a single plug ecu and engine loom. the loom fits the ecu and interior loom but the pins where different (the ecu looked different too).

so im going to change interior loom, engine loom, and use 3 plug ecu. will they all match or is there possibility of problems?

Anyone? Need to know this asap.

Are all 3 plug ecus and looms the same?

The basic of them are the same if you try and get them of the same year e.g a 2002. But when i done my loom i got it off a slightly older one (2001 plate and mine a 2003) and find that one of the plugs was slightly different. It was pretty straight forward to change though as i had the old loom to match it up with. It depends what you are trying to do.

EDIT: Why did you buy a single plug ECU and loom if your cars a 3 plug?

My car was a single plug 1.4 but I bout a 3plug vtr engine and gearbox as the hg had gone on my 1.4 and gearbox was fucked. Got the 3plug with box very cheap. Was told I could use a single plug loom on the engine and it would be fine. But the single plug ecu I was sent was bosh and nothing like a vtr one iv seen before. The loom for that fit my interior loom but when started up the fuel pump didn't prime, power steering pump whined, engine didn't start.

So this time round gonna change interior loom and engine loom and ecu so they all match.

Oh right i get it now

Well i don't really know what to say to that. Seems like that's going to be very expensive. My knowledge only goes to engine looms i'm afraid But as far as i am aware it could just be easier to sell the 3 plug engine and get a single plug. My other half done the exact same thing to his Furio but with a VTS engine and in the whole two years he had it the thing didn't run right and two years and £4000 later he has given up.

Up to you though what you do... It could save you a lot of time and money

That's why I want an interior loom and engine loom and ecu from 1 car because that will work and wont be to expensive. Can't sell it really as iv spent plenty on it and already got it in the car, just not runnin due to the loom.

It's upto you mate but i am just telling you what i have learnt in experience

Managed to get hold of everything from same car. Engine loom, interior loom, ecu, immobiliser, ignition barrel and key, fuel relay. All for a 3 plug so there's no reason it shouldnt work
